Imam murder case: Suspect suspect to stay in custody

  • Life

A Bangladeshi muezzin has been remanded in custody for 15 days pending investigation, in connection with the brutal murder of a Bahraini imam.

The suspect already confessed to hacking to death Shaikh Abduljalil Hmood inside a Muharraq mosque after dawn prayers last month.

The Public Prosecution has also remanded his wife for 15 days, after charging her with covering up her husband’s crime and failing to report him to the police after he informed her about the chilling murder.

She is being held, along her two children at the women’s detention centre in Isa Town.

The 39-year-old prayer caller is accused of premeditated murder.

Other suspects who are in police custody pending investigation are accused of helping the main suspect in carrying the body and hiding the tools he had used in perpetrating the crime.
