The deputy chairman of Bahrain-headquartered, Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanno Group, and the chairman of Bahrain Philanthropic Society, Fawzi Ahmed Kanoo, has signed a construction agreement with the CEO of the 12.2km2 masterplanned Diyar Al Muharraq, Ahmed Alammadi, to sponsor the construction of a mosque and a multipurpose hall at the megaproject.

The construction agreement was inked at the Kanoo Tower located in the Diplomatic Area in Bahrain.

Speaking about the philanthropic initiative, Kanoo said:

“I come from a family that takes philanthropy seriously. My father, the late Ahmed Kanoo, as well as my grandfathers, have all been at the forefront of philanthropy in Bahrain and the region.”

Meanwhile, Alammadi said:

“Building the mosque and multipurpose hall comes in line with our vision of creating close-knit communities, adding significant value to Diyar Al Muharraq.”

In a statement Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo Group revealed that the mosque will be named after Kanoo’s wife, Khulood Abdulla Juma, meanwhile the multipurpose hall will bear his name.

Construction work on the mosque and hall will commence in two months.

In February, Alammadi spoke on the construction update of Diyar Al Muharraq. He said that works on its Vida hotel, Address hotel, and 2,000m2 shopping mall will be completed by 2021.
