Egypt expressed its appreciation for Bahrain‘s stances that support Cairo, the most recent of which is the Arab resolution issued during the latest ministerial meeting of the Arab League Council that showed solidarity with Egypt in the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD)’s file.

This came during a meeting held Wednesday in Manama between Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, who is currently on a visit to Bahrain at the end of his Arab tour.

Shoukry conveyed a message from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the Bahraini monarch about the latest developments regarding the path of the GERD negotiations.

The top Egyptian diplomat affirmed the strength of Cairo-Manama strategic relations.

Meanwhile, King Hamad expressed Bahrain’s appreciation for Egypt, asserting his country’s solidarity with Cairo in all issues.

In this regard, the Bahraini king affirmed Manama’s support for Cairo in the GERD file as well as for whatever preserves Egypt’s rights and its water security.

He also highlighted the remarkable development witnessed in Bahrain-Egypt cooperation in various fields.

European tour begins

Shoukry headed later on Wednesday to Brussels, embarking on a European tour, which includes Belgium and France.

The minister is set to hold meetings with new heads of the European Union institutions in Brussels and probe means of promoting ties, cooperation and partnership between Egypt and the EU, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said.
