Bahrain’s $2 Billion Notes Offering

The Kingdom of Bahrain, acting through the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, executed the update of its Global Medium Term Note Programme and its Trust Certificate Programme and (i) the US$1 billion 7.375% Notes due 2030 under the GMTN Programme and (ii) the US$1 billion Trust Certificates due 2024 under the Trust Certificate Programme.

The offering was four times oversubscribed and marked the first successful debt issuance by a sub-investment grade sovereign since the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted global markets.

Dechert advised the Kingdom of Bahrain with a team consisting of partner Patrick Lyons (Picture), of counsel Camille Abousleiman and associates Nick Quarrie and Amy Rees.
