Bahrain Prince Khalifa’s team first to receive permit to climb Mt Everest this season


A team, including the Prince of Bahrain, Sheikh Mohamed Hamad Mohamed al-Khalifa has received the first permit from the Department of Tourism (DoT) to climb Mt Everest in the spring season.




According to Mira Acharya, Director of DoT, the team took permission on Friday by fulfilling the quarantine criteria.

With this, the number of people seeking permission to climb Nepal’s mountains, including Mount Everest, has reached 61 in the coming spring season.

Earlier, 40 people had taken permission for Mt Annapurna, four for MT Nuptse and one for Manaslu Himal, according to the DoT.

The team includes 13 Bahrainis and three British citizens, according to the Embassy of Nepal in Bahrain.

Earlier, the team including Prince Khalifa had scaled the 8,163-meter-high peak Mt Manaslu at 6:10 am on October 15, 2020.

Likewise, the team also climbed the 6,119-meter-high Mt Lobuche at 8:50 on October 3, 2020, in the second ascent of the season.

The team will stay in Nepal for around 80 days.
