Bahrain eliminate Qatar, qualify for Gulf Cup semi-finals

Bahrain qualified for the semi-finals of the 2017 Gulf Cup after they eliminated Qatar, the champion of the last edition, in the final and decisive match of Group B.

Bahrain managed to obtain the one point they needed to qualify over Qatar whose only option was to win in order to reach the penultimate stage of the 23rd Gulf Cup hosted by Kuwait.

Qatar scored the first goal through a penalty by Hassan Al Haidoos in the last minute of the first half.

However, Bahrain drew level thanks to Ali Jaafar who scored the crucial goal in the 57th minute of the match.

In the semi-finals on Tuesday, Bahrain will play Oman, the Group A leader, while Iraq will take on the UAE, the second team to qualify from Group A.
