Bahrain: Beware of this WhatsApp scam

  • Technology

Have you received this message on WhatsApp recently?

This is the latest scheme hackers are using to access your WhatsApp account – and all they need is a valid phone number and a verification code.

The scammers request a new bank/WhatsApp/Facebook password to be sent to your phone number. They then call or message you asking that you send it to them; either claiming you win a competition and you need to give the code, or they’re a friend who sent it to you by mistake.

Unfortunately, as soon as users share this number, the hackers have all they need to access your account and block you from it.

If you receive a similar message, report it to the concerned authorities immediately.
