He was awarded a slew of Bahraini, Gulf and Arab prizes during his illustrious career. His last novel was “The English Ocean” published in 2018.
The Bahraini Authority of Culture and Antiquities mourned Ramadan, calling him a “prominent cultural figure”. The agency said that the late writer has boosted his homeland’s name in the Gulf and Arab community of creativity.
“He was an example of the non-stop innovators and left behind a legacy and an output that will remain immortal in our Bahraini, Gulf and Arab cultural memory,” it added in a statement.
Ramadan’s works strikingly explored migration to the Gulf and socio-economic transformations in the region.
